411 on waivers?

Question:

How long do waivers last?

Answer:

It depends on an employee's designation.

For full-time employees, waivers last only for the plan year the waiver is associated with.

For variable-hour employees, a waiver lasts only through the stability period associated with the eligibility test that prompted their offer of coverage.

  • If the employee is once again eligible for an offer of coverage after the next measurement period, the previous waiver no longer applies.
